After an initial meeting of former members of the old St Michael’s Musical Society with some friends; it was decided to gauge the interest in staging a musical again for the communities of Kilmainham & Inchicore. From this meeting in 2015, the society as you know it now – Kilmainham, Inchicore Musical Society (KIMS) was born. The first show staged was “Calamity Jane” , 3 nights in the Inchicore College of Further Education to packed houses each night! The following year (2016) we staged the classic “Guys & Dolls” for 4 nights, which was also a huge success.
We followed this up again with Cole Porter’s fantastic musical comedy ‘Anything Goes‘ , right up to our most recent production of the Doris Day great..’The Pajama Game‘.
KIMS Has a total membership of 40+ and is growing each and every year. The society is always open to new members for future productions!
Adjudication & Awards Scheme
In the short time since we established KIMS, we’ve put forward nominations to the AIMS Adjudication & Awards Scheme, and we are thrilled to have so many Unsung Heroes from our community dedicated to the group.
2017 Mary Kelly / Unsung Hero Award – Rhonda Fitzgerald
2016 Mary Kelly / Unsung Hero Award – St James’ Brass & Reed Band
We were also delighted that last May 2018, our own Katy Nicholas was nominated in the ‘BEST FEMALE SINGER‘ category at the AIMS Awards for her part as ‘Reno Sweeney‘ in ‘Anything Goes‘. A wonder accolade and honour for this talented young lady.
We were also honoured to be nominated for ‘BEST ENSEMBLE‘ for our ‘Once a Year Day‘ number from ‘The Pajama Game’ at the 2019 AIMS Awards.
We wish a sincere thanks to all those in our community in Inchicore and Kilmainham and the wider South West Inner City for their support.
We would like to thank all our sponsors and advertisers, those who donated spot prizes and helped in any way!
